1. Hold the key steady. Quick, jerky motions make it harder for your webcam to detect.

2. Make sure your room is lit normally. Direct or bright lights create glare, which obscures the key. Not enough light, and your webcam can’t see a thing.

3. Experiment with moving the key closer and further away from your webcam. Not too close, and not too far - you’ll see.

4. Make sure the key is not bent or folded. Don’t crease it, either! Creases are bad.

5. Make sure there’s a white border around the key. The camera can see it better, and you have a way to hold it.

6. Avoid tilting the key too much. Your camera won’t detect a partially visible key.

7. Don’t print the key on glossy paper. Again with the glare.
